My name is Shaun Mazzocca. I've been an athlete since I could skate, a performer since my first standing ovation in a community theatre production, and a counsellor among my closest friends when attempting to settle disputes/conflict. For a long time, I had the idea that I wanted to be both an actor, and a therapist - but I never saw that vision through because I just didn't think it was possible being from Windsor, Ontario.
I spent my early twenties recovering from a severe knee injury. As a result, I felt lost without the daily routine of football practices and prepping for games on the weekend. I eventually found yoga and Brazilian JiuJitsu, and thus began my transition from team sports to individual practice and training unconventionally (including training clients as a CanFit certified personal trainer) while exploring somatic therapy techniques (such as floatation therapy while working in a float centre downtown Toronto). I also dedicated this time to self-discovery through my work as a performance artist, martial artist, and dedicated yogi.
By my late twenties, I had lived in two major cities (Toronto and Vancouver) building my career as a Canadian actor in film/tv, and gone through several major life transitions in the process. Through self-reflection, the help of a therapist and healthy physical routines, I realized that applying my skillset and a holistic approach to assisting other performers, athletes, and other unconventional lifestyles in overcoming the obstacles and challenges I've faced and overcome would allow me to do what I had imagined since I walking into my first Intro to Psychology class: Work as an actor, AND a therapist for other performers.
